Welcome to the lovely Upper Denton House, a wonderfully tranquil retreat for up to 23 guests situated on the edge of the stunning North Pennines in the North East of Cumbria. At Upper Denton House you will find 10 en-suite warm and comfy bedrooms with 18 beds all encompassed in this delightfully renovated farmhouse. One of our favourite features is the incredible location offering great walks and stunning panoramic views overlooking everything from the Birdoswald Roman Fort and Gilsland's River Irthing valley to the Kielder Forest and Northumberland National Park.

The house consists of:

  • 10 en-suite bedrooms (3 Doubles, 3 Twins, 1 Double apartment, 1 triple, 1 Single, 1 x 5 single attic spaces)
  • Hot tub with garden views
  • Garden room with a rowing machine and static bike
  • Large working kitchen with separate wash and preparation room
  • Large social areas, conservatory, and TV sitting room.
  • Dining room seating 24
  • Honesty bar to try some quenching local beer

The bedrooms all consist of high-quality white cotton bedding, and fluffy towels, WiFi, Freeview TV, a hair drier, toiletries, and facilities for preparing hot drinks to keep you nice and comfortable.

There are a number of cosy social spaces so that you and your whole group can be together in the warmth of this wonderful home. Not only that but enjoy the garden in all of its glory by spending the evening relaxing in the hot tub under the stars, before you head to sleep in your uniquely designed bedroom.

For the active and those nature lovers in your group, you can find a number of delightful cycle routes, including the Hadrians Wall cycleway and circular walks from the front door, making the most of the wonderful British countryside. We are ideally placed to explore the fabulous World Heritage site of Hadrians Wall, where you can brush up on your history whilst walking in the open expanses of Cumbria and Northumberland. If you're looking for something a bit wetter, you can head over to Talkin Tarn for some fun water sports such as canoeing, windsurfing or rowing.

After your day out enjoying the local area, you can return to Upper Denton House and finish your day by sitting back, relaxing, and crack open a cold local beer from the 'honesty bar'.

Corporate

Upper Denton House works very well for more relaxed corporate events. You will be able to enjoy an undisturbed weekend with plenty of privacy in the stunning Northern countryside of the UK. The dining room is big enough to accommodate all guests and can be used for meeting purposes, training lessons, or just to get together for an evening dinner. The two reception rooms are spacious and perfect for smaller meetings or an afternoon tea. In the evening, you can sink into the comfy couches and crack open a local beer while having fun conversations with your colleagues. In your free time, you'll love walking around and exploring the local area.

Upper Denton House is spectacular for large groups and we had a wonderful stay. We drove there for a hen party with the girls and would love to go back. We relaxed in the hot tub, had a lot of space, the bedrooms were cosy and Malcolm, the owner, was at our service and very helpful. It had all the amenities we needed and I couldn't recommend it enough.

A great venue for group get-togethers. You will find a mixture of doubles, twins, triples and singles with en-suite in most. Communal areas are very spacious with plenty of storage space with cooking and cleaning facilities. We can not recommend this beautiful house enough. Incredible views from the hot tub!

We booked this place during a weekend in late July 2017. I was able to get there for the final two nights. A delightful house with a large kitchen, spacious dining room, as well as a separate bar area and lounge. We also really enjoyed the hot tub as well as the fascinating Hadrian's Wall route.
