From the South And East

Leave the M1 at Junction 23A. Follow signs to Stoke and Uttoxeter on A50. Continue to the turning off to Ashbourne A515. Take this road until you reach Ashbourne and then follow signs for A523 to Leek.

Continue on this road through Leek following signs for A523 to Macclesfield. About 2 miles out of Leek take the right hand fork signposted Heaton. Travel for ½ mile up a hill and take the first right, signposted to Meerbrook, Swythamley and Danebridge. You are now on the right road – do not turn off this road following signs to Heaton.

After about 1 mile you will go straight over a junction. The next house on the left has a brown standard lamp in its front garden (Toft Lodge Farm). Turn off the road into the lane next to this house and continue to the end where you will find Toft Hall. Chels Barn is below Toft Hall on the left hand side of the courtyard.

From the North And West

Travel to Macclesfield and leave Macclesfield in a southerly direction on the A523 signposted to Leek. After about 8 miles you will enter the village of Rushton (beware the 2 speed cameras). Travelling through Rushton you need to travel up the hill in front of the Royal Oak pub, signposted to Meerbrook (the main road bears right at this point, so whilst you are technically turning left you actually travel in a straight line).

Unfortunately no buses pass Toft Hall. The local Moorlands Bus can be ordered during the week to take you anywhere in the Moorlands. If arriving at Toft Hall by train the nearest stations are:- Buxton(Manchester/Sheffield line) or Macclesfield or Stoke on Trent (London Euston – West Coast Main Line). All are c 10 – 12 miles away.

Take the road to Leek. As you come down the hill past the Roaches and Winking Man rocks, into Blackshaw Moor turn right at the Three Horseshoes pub. Follow this road over Tittesworth Lake, through Meerbrook village and up over Gun Hill to its end (approx 2 miles). At the end turn right (signposted Wincle and Danebridge and Swythamley). Toft Lodge Farm is the first property on the left hand side (it has a brown standard lamp in the garden). Turn into the track next to the farm and Chels Hall is at the bottom.

Take the road to Leek. (If you know the short cut to Macclesfield via Rudyard - take this route onto the A523). If not, in Leek follow road signs to Macclesfield A523. About two miles after leaving Leek take a right hand fork signposted to Heaton. Continue up this hill for about half a mile and take the first right turning to Wincle. Continue for about one mile on this road (ignoring any signs to Heaton). Pass straight over a junction and Toft Lodge Farm is the first property on the left hand side (it has a brown standard lamp in the garden). Turn into the track next to the farm and Chels Hall is at the bottom.
