![]() Party Houses are in a really beautiful part of the world and we hope that you will join us in helping protect that for future generations. We want you to have a fabulous time whilst you are here so please take a moment to read our Green Folder and please contribute as much as you can! We are proud to be holders of both the Peak District Environmenatl Quality Mark and a Silver award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme. It is our aim to do as much as possible to lesson our impact on the environment and to contribute to the local community. Please help us to maintain our commitment to: REDUCE, REUSE, RECYCLE
![]() Travel to your Party House and around the beautiful Peak District All our Party House Directions pages include details of how to get here (and home) via public transport. Unfortunately there are not bus services to our Party Houses, but local cabs can get you here fromthe nearesttrain stations (see our Taxi Telephone numbers sheet). We do provide storage for bikes at most Party Houses. We also have negotiated a discount for Party House guests at Brown End Cycle Hire and please look out for information on some of our favourite local walks in your Party House, so you can use the car less when you arrive. Please car share wherever possible! Recycling We employ recycling facilities for paper, card, cans, glass, plastics and, at some Party Houses, food waste - please check the instructions at your own Party House on arrival and help us fill less landfill. Food Glorious Food We find that many guest seriously over order the amount of food they need for their break and then have to throw much of it away! Do consider how much you really need to bring with you (there are supermarkets locally!). If you have uneaten but perfectly good food that you do not want to take home with you – please leave it in the fridge rather than contributing to landfill. Also if you wish to support local suppliers - please check out www.peakdistrictfinefoods.co.ukthey are a sort of farmers market on wheels and can deliver to your Party House. Details of Farmers Markets and local food suppliers can be found on the web site and in the information pack in your Party House.
Local wildlife We are verylucky to have some fantastic wildlife living around our Party Houses. We have put up bat, birdand owl boxes in many locations, with a lot of success (Barn Owls are now breeding in the box at Toft). Other species which are commonly seen here include the large Red Deer, many, many hares and rabbits, Little Owls, Tawny Owls and Barn Owls, Curlews (in the summer), etc. Peregrine Falcons have nested on The Roaches this year again (apparently last year was for the first time in 100 years). If you are interested, do bring a pair of binoculars and see what you can spot... Click here for the wonderful Roaches Hall bird box trail put up by some of our previous guests! There are also lots of farm animals within the vicinity of all our Party Houses. For this reason we have a very strict no fireworks and no Night Sky Lanterns policy and ask that you respect the Countryside Code, closing farm gates and not dropping litter, etc. A copy of the Countryside Code can be found in the Green Folder.

We have barn owls living in the grounds at Toft Hall Heating, Electricity and Water usage We are pretty certain that you wouldn't want our heating and electricitybills at home! We have installed as energy efficient boilers as we can possibly get and do leave the heating on for you. As many as our light bulbs as possible are the low energy variety and all our Party Houses have lots of insulation in them. Wealso include electricity and heating as part of our fully inclusive rates, but so often find that the heating is on full blast and many windows are wide open (aaaah!). Please think about turning the thermostat down even a degree or two and perhaps putting on a lovely cardigan or jumper instead (or at least turning the thermostats down at night so you don’t over heat in bed!). Don’t fill the kettle to the brim if only a couple of cuppas are required! Also, please use water wisely, shorter showers rather than deep baths really do help the environment. Finally, as we are not on mains drainage at any of our Party Houses, please do not put anything untoward down the loos - they get terrible tummy ache if you do! If you don’t use towels or a bed please leave the little notice on them so we don’t launder unnecessarily. Finally do let us know if there are any leaky taps that need our attention! Chemicals
We try to minimise the use of chemicals in our Party Houses and their gardens. So please enjoy watching the wildlife that results! Real Nappies If you need to order real nappies for your stay - the local Lollipop Cloth Nappy Advisor is Claire Adams on 07891 634435. Buying Local There are so many fabulous local craftsmen and food producers it would be a real shame to come here and not see and buy some of the fruits of their labour. Please see the information leaflets for details of where you can visit them (especially those in the Peak District Environmental Quality Mark scheme visit www.peakdistrict.gov.uk/eqm.)
